The materials on these pages are designed to support practitioners (teachers, classroom assistants, volunteers and others) working with ESOL learners who are often referred to as being at 'pre-Entry' level. In these materials we refer to these learners as 'learners new to ESOL'. Often, Entry 1 ESOL classes mat be considered unsuitable for leaners new to ESOL because they have no or very limited literacy and/or have no knowledge of the Roman alphabet and numbers. In this short video two ESOL practitioners discuss some of the challenges they face when teaching leaners new to ESOL.
